Road Trip Day 8 – Las Vegas

Day 8-Woke up in Las Vegas and found breakfast. For me? Krispy Kreme! Mmmmmm!! Then to the Midway to play some games and watch some acrobats. On to the AdventureDome to ride the roller coaster. I talked Roy into going with me and it made him sick because it had two loop-de-loops and one corkscrew. We had to find our next hotel, Sam’s Town, so he could lay down.
The boys and I took the shuttle to the strip and explored the Paris. My feet hurt so bad I was limping and the heat had caused a heat rash on my body that felt like the skin of my thighs was peeling off every time I took a step. Needless to say, I was uncomfortable.
We went back to Sam’s Town, picked up Roy and headed off to the Rio Carnival World Buffet. After driving down the strip again, we stopped at the Gold and Silver Pawn shop, as seen on TV, but we couldn’t go in as it was closed. So we drove to Fremont street which is my favorite part of Vegas! First of all, it has the world’s largest pint glass.
As we were walking down the street under the dome, there was a crack of thunder the street lights went out and the dome lights came up. Thunder and lightening rolled over our heads then Queen’s We Will Rock You started to play as images of the band flashed overhead. It was so awesome!! Definitely an e-ticket moment.
After the song, some performers came out on a couple different stages and began singing some classic 70’s hits. It was great! I was so in my element!! I never wanted to leave! But it was after midnight and Roy and Trevor didn’t really want to stay. Josiah had actually gotten frustrated because he was hoping we would turn him loose downtown so he could do some shopping. I asked him if he was having a good time and he said, “Not Really.”
That really pissed me off. What do you have to do to entertain kids nowadays? So my evening went from the best ever, to the worst. I vowed right then and there never to take a teenager on another trip. They’re going to be unhappy no matter where you take them, so you might as well leave them at home and save the money.
We got back to the hotel and I asked Roy if he wanted to go find a bar. So we wandered around until we found one open  and sat and talked awhile until I calmed down. Then we returned to the room and went to bed.
